Services I offer

At Operative Engineering, I provide mission-aligned support to help products, and the companies behind them, succeed. Whether it’s guiding early-stage product development, reviewing existing designs, providing feedback on proposals, or delivering hands-on contract mechanical engineering, my goal is the same: to provide clarity, direction, and practical expertise during critical phases. Every engagement is grounded in experience, precision, and a commitment to building strong foundations that set your product, and your business, on the path to success.

Product Development Consulting

Do you have a compelling concept but aren’t sure how to bring it to life? Are you ready to turn a proof of concept into a minimum viable product, or a prototype into a saleable product?

I specialize in guiding startups and established companies through these critical early stages, providing hands-on expertise in product definition, design strategy, and execution planning.

Together, we’ll produce concrete outputs that set your product, and your company, up for success: a detailed product specification for your MVP, research documentation for future reference, and a solid manufacturing strategy. From assessing technical feasibility to defining development roadmaps and identifying potential pitfalls before they become costly problems, I combine strategic insight with practical engineering know-how to ensure your vision becomes a tangible, market-ready product.

This service combines a series of team discussions with my own independent market and design research as well as concept development in CAD. As such, the rate is quoted on a per-project basis. Please reach out to discuss your needs!

Proposal, Strategy, and Design Reviews

Do you have a specification and plan for your product but need a sanity check? Are you looking for a thorough review of your go-to-market strategy, or technical validation of a proposal as an investor? I provide objective, expert assessments to ensure your product plans are technically sound, feasible, and aligned with your business goals.

Depending on your needs, we can collaborate through discussions, hold in-depth working sessions, or I can independently generate a detailed written report with actionable recommendations. Deliverables can include a review summary highlighting potential risks and opportunities, prioritized recommendations for design or strategy adjustments, and guidance on next steps to de-risk development and accelerate progress. Whether it’s validating your approach or refining your plan, my goal is to give you confidence in the decisions that will shape your product’s success.

This service focuses entirely around high-level consulting and review and does not include any CAD development on my part. A standard rate can be applied to a set time or a per-project quote can be developed. Get in touch and we can discuss how I can best help you.

Contract Mechanical Engineering

Are you trying to turn sketches into a prototype? Do you need help turning 3D prints into moldable parts? Does your design need validation or simulation? I provide hands-on mechanical engineering support to bring your ideas from concept to real-world execution.

I will create high-quality, parametric models, drawings, and assemblies tailored to your needs. I can also work directly with molders, fabricators, and rapid prototyping partners, ensuring a smooth transition from CAD to real-world parts. With decades of experience and countless hours in CAD, I combine precision, practicality, and creativity to turn your concepts into functional, manufacturable products.

This service is focused entirely on CAD development and can be quoted based on a standard rate for set times or on a per-project basis. Mechanical simulations to verify functionality are available as well. Let’s talk about what you need and we can make something great together.
